Hello world! Welcome back to another blog. Today I will be talking about a showcase I saw on 29th April 2026, which featured some of my amazing actor friends.Ā
In this blog I will be going through the following:
- What the agency is and the companies the actors in their books got jobs for
- My thoughts on the showcase itself (with act 1 and 2 separately)
- The aftermath of the showcase and mingling with everyoneĀ

What Is Prolific?
Prolific is an agency set up by my acting teacher Tim Bryn Smith, along with actress Rosanne Priest. They represent clients from far and wide, which include people from Ireland, a former Britain's Got Talent Champion, and a former regular of the tv show Brookeside. So they do represent people from far and wide. Theyāve had many clients take on jobs from some of the biggest companies (and Iāll leave a link to the agency at the end of this blog so you can see some of the other companies they worked for), one of which is Warhammer, with a office in the heart of Nottingham, where they did a parody of a new musical as part of April fools day. So you could say after setting up in 2025 theyāve already made a big impact.Ā
The Showcase Itself:
The performances themselves were so good, and the talent was off the scale. I wonāt be able to mention everyone as itāll take me a while, but here are some of my stand out moments from each act:
Act 1:
Act 1 had some amazing pieces.Ā Daemian Greaves kicked off the show with a piece he wrote himself withĀ the help of Clare Moss being the voice of his mum on the phone call. Iāve seen this piece before during class, and I could see he worked really hard on the notes Tim gave during the session. So that one was a really great stand out for me. There was alsoĀ Vanessa l Jade Holmes and Darren Paul Taylor performing a sketch about two people going on a first date. This one really made me chuckle, and it reminded me of a sketch used in Saturday Night Live (both UK and America). And with season 2 of SNL UK coming in September, I definitely think they should use this sketch to maybe get seen for it. There was alsoĀ Helena Harrison, who gave a monologue about her character going for a job interview, which had me laughing due to the relatability of the piece. This definitely got me and the audience laughing our heads off, and I donāt know if sheās done any other comedy work yet, but if she hadnāt then this piece is the start of a brilliant career in the comedy genre. I also didnāt know if it was self written or already published, but I was definitely invested into what she was saying, and thatās when you know she did a good job. Another person that stood out to me wasĀ Bruno Bingley, who gave off a flawless high stakes performance in a perfect American accent. And the day of the performance was also his birthday as well, so doing what he loves on a special day is something to remember. And surprisingly I didnāt get overstimulated when everyone sung happy birthday to him, which was a bonus.Ā Khadijah Islam (with the help of Darren Paul Taylor and Danny Shooter) took her pieceĀ Delusional Daphne to life. I knew this was going to be a good one after briefly looking at the scene in class when learning about how to write your own work, and I briefly had a go at performing this scene. I was just laughing my head off, and it made me even more excited to watch her film with the same name. Iāve also been following her journey to making a second film, and I canāt wait to see the final product of that as well. But the performance on the day was fantastic, and it made me laugh my head off. Like with Vanessa and Darren, this is something thatās definitely worthy of SNL UK. And finally,Ā Diana closed Act 1 with a piece linking to her let cat, with a lot of innuendos that got me chuckling. The timing, the props and her dialogue was what made it a really great piece. A perfect way to end Act 1.

Act 2:
The first performer in Act 2 that stood out to me was Orla Gildea, coming all the from Ireland. What I liked about her was how unexpected the piece was, and letās just say that it was quite out there. And it was something where if youāre a woman, youād know the pain, so she was definitely a stand out to me. There was also AW iconĀ Danny Shooter. Now heās normally known for comedy, but the piece he did was a nice change from his usual content he makes. It also shows how much of a versatile actor he really is, and Iām glad to see a different side to him.Ā Hannah Sowter was another stand out for me, as after seeing the piece in rehearsal during class time, I definitely could see the difference after Tim gave her some notes. And it was something that fitted perfectly in sitcoms like Miranda, and I could also relate to it knowing that how Hannahās character acted was something I would also relate to.Ā Charlie Bailey performed her own piece, and letās just say that was also a relatable one. The comedy timing, the relatability of the piece and a twist which made me giggle made the perfect piece to perform. And I just say, she has brilliant writing skills.Ā Dave Marker Cox performed a piece called āDo Not Blame Meā, written by CC Anderson. I remember recording this monologue, and he did a brilliant version. What made it funny was that he made the character like a normal person, which is why I think made this piece more entertaining. And it was great to see CC also share on her socials his proudĀ she is that her piece came to life.Ā The show ended with John and Clare Moss performing a sketch from a well known TV show. I saw this piece in class before, and to my definitely made it their own with the notes Tim gave. I also thought it was the perfect way to end the showcase on a high, as it got me and the audience laughing our heads off.Ā

Aftermath:
After the show I spent some time having a drink with my friends. This was a really nice way to wind down, and to not only catch up with everyone, but to speak to people who I havenāt met before, where there stories on why they chose the piece they did were very fascinating. I think the only thing that frustrated me was that I couldnāt stay for the singing part later in the evening, but I saw some clips on the AW Facebook group of some of those songs. So at least I got to experience some of what they did. And I also had a nice refreshing drink as seen below, so I felt that was a good way to end the day on a high.

And that is it for my blog of when I want to watch the Prolific showcase.
