Hello world! Welcome back to anther blog! In this blog I will be taking you through a different kind of Halloween job I did, where it may have only been a short one, but it was also a lot of fun. So without further ado, here is my journey to taking part in Animorsels ā€œRe-animatedā€.

First Application:

I first came across this job on my acting classes private Facebook page, looking for the role of the possessed girl. Because I wasn’t doing my traditional Halloween work this year and because it was my day off from my day job, I decided to jump at the chance and apply for it. I was thrilled to be picked, and I was looking forward to working on something which is a whole new experience for me.

Preparation:

Throughout the preparation process, I did wonder about how to come across an immersive piece and not make it look too rehearsed. So I learnt the lines and watched the reference clip the organiser sent me, making notes of when to add lib stuff. And I even had a 10 minute chat with my scene partner that made me think about other things like the given circumstances and objectives. It was then where I implemented traits from the character of Lucifer (but Tom Ellis’ version), and it seemed to have done wonders in rehearsing it.

The Night:

On the night itself we had a small rehearsal just to run through the section where my scene partner comes in. The rest was self explanatory, and therefore didn’t require a lot of rehearsal time. It was also a chance to meet some of the team, and they were a very lovely bunch. I can see why one member liked working with them, and they made me feel so welcoming, also asking about one of my access needs when it came to lighting.Ā

Performance:

The performance itself went really well! Despite missing one line, and someone in the audience shouting something humourous, I thoroughly enjoyed it! And I didn’t break character when that happened, showing that I really must be a true professional. My scene partner and the host also did a great job, and without them, the performance would’ve been possible. And these photos that were taken as seen below look amazing!

Rest Of The Evening:

For the next hour after our bit, I sat and watched some films made by the people who came to the event. I don’t lie, some of them were a bit weird and I didn’t quite understand them, but there were some that were also creative. One of which was a musical film in the style of Tim Burtons Corpse Bride, and for obvious reasons I liked it. But in terms of creativity, I liked how everything was put together nicely!Ā

Things I Could’ve Done Better:

I guess one thing I couldn’t done if I were to do this again was to go back to basics on the given circumstances and objectives earlier on. However, my quick thinking skills on how to make it more enjoyable did help, and all I can say is… thank god for Lucifer Morningstar! I don’t know where I’d be without him!Ā

Overall, it was a really good experience. I got to meet new creatives, see a friend within the audience who I haven’t seen in a long time, and managed to do a brilliant performance. So overall it was a really good night!

And that is it for my review of my first ā€œAnimorselsā€ event. Keep an eye out on my YouTube Channel for the vlog of the night and what I got up to before, during and after the event!
