Hello world!
Welcome back to another blog. This blog will feature a job which yes was more of background work, but during this process it got to feature an amazing artist in the form of Lewis Capaldi! So without further ado, here is what I got up to when I took part in a promo for Aldi, or in this case āCap-Aldiā!Ā

The Initial Application:
I started the initial application by applying on the casting site Mandy. Now after looking at the date, I wasnāt too sure if I was able to do it given it clashed with my non acting job. However, sometimes you need to feel the fear and do it anyway, so I just simply applied for it, and see what happens from there.Ā

The Response:
A few days later, I got a response where they wanted me to take part. This was an achievement for me, and thankfully my acting agent said it was alright with her for me to do it too (as I needed to make sure I didn't break the Ts&Cs with her before I took it on). But there were more steps to take throughout the process.Ā
The Call:
As part of theĀ application process, I needed to call the person who posted the job, giving me all the details needed for the day itself. As mentioned before, my acting agent said it was alright with her to do it, and I had to set up a profile so that I could be put forward. He was a really lovely guy, giving me all the key bits of information and what to include in my profile. Before I knew it, I was officially on board, and I could wait for this brilliant day!Ā
The Day Itself:
The day itself was brilliant. Despite some setbacks (which Iāll mention in the challenges section of the blog which is in the next section) I had a great time! I got to see people Iāve met before, some new faces, and to be part of a shoot to help promote theĀ popular brand that is Aldi. And as mentioned before even though it was more of a background shoot, sometimes those background artists are just as important as the main speaking roles, as they help bring the story together, like the ensemble in shows like Les Miserables. And I got a stamp to not only let the staff know Iām part of the shoot, but to also remember the day by.Ā

Lewis himself was also spectacular. To witness doing a shoot featuring one of the most talented singers in this day and age (whoās also very funny and just a normal human being) was a privilege to be a part of. Here is a little video of one of the most well known songs which I sang along to.
Challenges & How I Overcame Them:
Whilst the day was a lot of fun, there were some obstacles that definitely got in my way. One of them was getting to my local train station, as because of reasons beyond my control the taxi company I normally go with couldnāt take me. But bless my sister, she volunteered as tribute to take me in the early hours of the morning, and for that Iām forever grateful for her. As you can see below, this was one moment to my journey to Nottingham in the early hours of the morning, where I may not look it, but I was quite tired but excited.

There was also the challenge of getting to the place from the station, as a tram breakdown meant I did arrive abit late. It also meant that I did miss a few extra shorts used in the product. However, because of how many people there were, it wouldāve been a 1 in 100 chance of getting to be part of an extra shot. But I also met someone who was also going to that same shoot, and I came along with them and along with another amazing individual, I formed a nice friendship between them. Sometimes itās scenarios like that where you can turn a negative into a positive.Ā
And that is it for my experience promoting āCap-Aldiā. I hope you enjoyed this read, and please see the link for the promo itself on Instagram:
Please also see a link below to a vlog I made of the event, which showed you each of the key points throughout that day!
See you soon for another blog. Until next timeā¦
This is The Autistic Actress signing off :)Ā
