Hello world! Welcome back to another blog. This week saw the VE Day spirit, an acting class which I felt was my best session yet, and some curveballs in regards to a recall I got given, but slowly managing my way through it. As seen below, one of which included an INTENSE Workout (which I'll mention the results of it in the personal section of the blog). So without further ado, here is what I got up to on the week commencing 5th May 2025!

Professional:

Actors Pro Expo:

This week I listened to another insightful seminar. This one was with Audere Talent management. Despite not being able to hear what the questions were, I did get lots of useful information on how to work with your agents and what the red flags are. But overall a really great session to listen to!

Acting Class:

This week along with some more improv I developed more of my skills with my wonderful class. To start with my teacher gave us an honest chat about agents which did leave me with food for thought. And after a quick improv game, tonight we filmed some of the scenes we’ve been working on. Now I expected to rehearse that session and then film the following week, but I felt I dealt with that change better, as it became quite possibly the best session I’ve done so far. I felt it was the case because I was my authentic self throughout the whole time, and the direction that my teacher gave to my scene partner had that impact and generated real authentic emotions throughout all of it. Which is what acting is all about, as by feeling it, the audience will be more drawn in. I can’t wait for you all to see it and fingers crossed, for our upcoming open house event that will be one of the pieces we show. But for now along with a scene I did a few months ago (where each of us in the group did our own interpretation of it), please see the full video of my scene, and then comment below to see if you want a version with the direction my teacher gave to my scene partner!

Own Material:

This week I managed to get back into filming some of my own material. Now it may not be until the next of next week (and it may already be out if reading this later down the line) but I can’t wait to show you all what I’ve filmed. And also making my own stuff and putting it online is something I need to get back into this year, as if you can’t get the work, do it yourself!

Email Drafts:

This week I drafted some emails to send to some casting directors which is pretty much due. Yes before I send them I’ll need to re-tweak them to each one (as after seeing some recent tv I need to mention it to the ones who casted it), but they are due a massive update. So plan of action: tv/screen casting directors this week, and theatre casting directors the following week!

Go Fund Me Update:

This week the GoFundMe page for my short film has officially reached it's target! Yes this is brilliant news, but that doesn't mean to say that it's the end of the road completely. So next week a good chat with my colleague is needed to not only look at starting the next project, but to also look at where to go next with my current film.

Act On This Podcast:

This week I listened to two amazing podcasts from this community.  The first one was with the incredible Ruth Madeley. It was a mammoth session, but all I can say is that after watching her last time, she is someone who yes is honest about the setbacks to being a disabled actor, but it’s how she deals with it that makes her keep going in the industry. And that is why I need to surround myself with people like her, as if she can do it, so can I! Overall a really great session and some lessons I’ll definitely be taking away!

ree

The second one was with the spotlight success team, which consisted of Mel Brown and Joseph LinkedIn. It was a mammoth session, but it was to make sure that every detail of the profile is up to date. And there was actually something I needed to ask the tweak in regards to languages, so that was useful on where to contact them as well. But overall a really good session, and one which I’ll definitely implement into the new week ahead.

Coronation Street:

This week I watched the show from 21st and 23rd April. Dylan finally had the guts to get one on Brody. Normally violence is never the solution, but my dad did say that giving it time, it’s a way to keep Billy’s quiet. And Gemma is still stressed out about the situation after telling Chesney everything. But like the good person he is, he’ll always support Gemma, even if Sean did give her the cold shoulder. But that wasn’t the only drama. Julie also expressed her struggles to Roy, who in turn gave some brilliant advice linking to Hayley’s experience. That and George giving Brian a pep talk brought them back together, which was at a perfect time as the bus was cancelled. But a slip of the tongue made Eileen fuming, and with Sue Cleever's exit coming soon, this may be the beginning of her exit storyline. Sarah was also put in the spot for theirs drama. First nearly getting beer thrown at her, then Danielle shouting the odds at her and being confronted again in Roy’s cafe. But thankfully kit stepped in and made her see what was actually happening, and with Theo still not ready to come out, Danielle’s discovery was the last thing he needed. He’s convinced that he should never encounter Todd again, but after seeing spoilers, it’s not the last we’ve seen of Theo. But one things for sure, it’s definitely brought Kit and Sarah together, particularly after explaining why Todd means alot to sarah and mentioning baby billy, it’s only made her relationship with kit stronger. Speaking of baby’s, Lauren wasn’t able to go into the hospital due to getting a cold, and a visit to see her dad and disowning him for good after he sent her a package made her question everything. But Roy’s kind words and his offer to be a father figure to Lauren was what she needed to hear. And Dee Dee finally got some answers and was relieved to hear Zoe admit she was wrong. And her idea to set up a project for black maternity care was brilliant, but Alya was right to suggest that it’s too soon for Dee Dee to go back to work knowing she has Laila to think about (and I do get why she doesn’t mention her). Finally, Daisy and Christina’s plan to take Jenny’s money goes to the next step when Dom makes an appearance and gets her where she wants him. This prompted Daisy to suggest to Daniel to go away with her for a fresh start (but after seeing spoilers on Charlotte Jordan’s exit, it's going to be one to remember), which eventually he accepts. But cheeky Christina has plans of her own, and it looks like Dom is only encouraging it more. I also watched the show from 25th April and the first half of 28th April. Betsy clashing over Trac did not end well when she took the van, and lauren getting involved didn’t help and only made things worse. But despite Betsy keeping her name out of it, Lauren kept getting threatening texts from a mysterious stranger, whilst Betsy is still not going back to college. I can also imagine Sarah’s face when Shona and David caught them in the act, but they eventually managed to convince them that they should give the relationship a chance. Although the PDA at the rovers even made me feel very single lol! Julie also realised that Eileen isn’t feeling the same about George anymore, and I know it’ll break his heart, but with Sue Cleaver's exit coming soon, I have a feeling it won’t be long before she tells him. And when Eileen slipped on an ingredient from a Jamie Oliver recipe, George’s suggestion for Brian to do it says it all really. Daisy and Christina are still in cahoots to get back at Jenny, but with Charlotte Jordan’s exit coming soon after seeing spoilers, it looks like the beginning of the end for obvious reasons. First Daniel spots Christina with Dom, with Daisy also getting suspicious, then Daniel questions Christina on what she’s got behind her back, and finally Daisy finding out from Rita that Jenny had money the entire time. But Christina’s chat with sim behind daisy's back may not end well. But the most shocking part was Debbie’s answers which sadly were dementia. She was convinced that Laila's symptoms were caused by the wrong formula she brought, but we never know as that might be a coincidence. But sadly when she got the diagnosis, all they had was a leaflet which sadly is still the case to this day. After seeing how it affects her loved ones, it won’t go down well. And Carl worrying doesn’t go unnoticed by Abi (who I got the feeling that before all of this they were flirting, and Carl's “hotel voice” was the start of it). But she thought it was linked to Kevin’s cancer, but Carl trying to kiss her made things abit more awkward now. Oh dear… But later in the week I managed to see that she kept it quiet for now, and pretended it was due to Kevin's energy levels, which he said he was fine. Daniel was also not happy with Daisy and Christina, and issued her an ultimatum. But after yet another argument with Jenny (who's decision to invest in Dom's company will no doubt fall through), she made it clear who's side she's taking. I also felt for Julie when she confides in George about being a burden, and it looks like they are starting to consider adding in equipment for the house now that she's unable to do the basic things. Betsy meanwhile, is getting the full treatment from Lisa, but now that her hand is slowly getting better, something tells me that being the cheeky teenager she is, she may milk it abit longer. And Bobby's advice about ignoring the blackmailer did not help what then followed a message having the proof of her driving the van. But I have a feeling who I think it might be. And Debbie is starting to see the reality of living with Dementia following an encounter with a patient and her daughter, and her decision to call off the engagement with Ronnie did not go down well with the rest of the family (and they weren't keen on Tracy and Bobby sticking their noses in). At some point she will have to tell them, but let's hope it's not too long before she does that.

Hollyoaks:

This week saw drastic decisions, accusations and true personalities finally being revealed. Monday's episode saw Nancy and Darren still arguing, and Jack and pearl were right to tell them how it’s affecting them and the family. Nancy also managed to make Darren jealous by mentioning her date, where he got the wrong end of the stick after seeing her with Tony. But after a chat and the fact that Nancy only told Darren about faking a date to make him see how she feels, a reunion may be on the cards. But after seeing the latest trailer, what follows next will really see if they still are together. Tommy is also in the midst of drama, as after being at the wake on his own, this was the perfect opportunity for Leela to tell Jez his true motives. But after trying to make him show Tommy what he’s capable of, he’s now intimidated by Tommy's threat. I’m intrigued to see how it goes. And Misbah's update on Donny is good, and also her discovery to Diane made her see things more clearly with Banks, but for Ro, he thinks it’s something to do with him. And with his upcoming court case, something tells me that his new friend online suggesting to run away will only make things worse. Tuesdays episode saw Darren feeling perky following him and Nancy seemingly reuniting, so much so that he had to get dodger to fix the bed lol! But Nancys decision was not what he was expecting. Meanwhile, Jeremy’s plan to stop Leela ordered by Tommy does not go unnoticed by Martha, and Joel intervening was enough for her to survive, but his confession on why the accused was accused will not be taken well by Leela. Dodger also revealed the British reality of his job, but also saw why he needed to do it realising that Frankie is Darren’s daughter, so his objective to stop the gang is now more determined than ever. Finally, Kathleen angel managed to be there for ro when Arlo bullied him again, but after a fight with Diane, he seemed to be considering on moving away with his online friend. But something tells me I have a feeling his new friend is not what he seems to be. Finally, Wednesdays episode saw Cleo attacked with accusations about what she “did to Leela” following Joel’s confession. But Joel’s honesty about how he feels about Cleo was possible enough for Leela to know that it’s the end of the road for them. And Tommy has gotten a smug look on his face in the process, but I do hope he keeps to his word about Jeremy’s confession on the recordings. Meanwhile Marie was finally starting to see through arlos lies, after witnessing herself what he’s doing to Ro, and even though she and Tony may not be able to get back together, at least he accepts his apology, but I also get why he has to put Ro first. And I’m not sure if Diane will fall for banks’ trap again, but either way, Ro’s decision following recent events may end in disaster. But Tony isn’t the only one with relationship problems. Darren is doing everything he can to stop the divorce happening, and his plan with the help of jack and pearl did not go down well with Nancy. And with Frankie and Dillon back in the village, she has a new thing to focus on. But I wish Kat would just reveal the truth when she did ring Nancy, as it’s all getting abit silly now.

Eastenders:

This week we saw shocking revelations, tempers flaring, the birth of a new child and a VE Day special that symbolised why days like this are important in our country. Mondays episode saw Harry in pieces following the revelation on Shireen, with him not knowing the full truth. It was a good job Billy was there to talk some sense into him, and after a first failed attempt when Teddy mentioned a childhood memory and how he would protect him from there, Billy once again convinced him to try again. But a revelation from penny is only going to cause more friction. Vicki and Ross also had abit of tension when it came to Joel, along with Vicky worried about Zack (who also got a nasty threat from Nicola!, but they eventually came to an understanding. But I can imagine Joel and Avani's embarrassment when the parents walk in on them. And understandably Lauren has some worries following the final pregnancy check before her engagement party, and a passing comment from Ian didn’t help. But Kathy was able to offer her a shoulder to cry on, and with the return of an unexpected guest, things are about to get more interesting. Tuesdays episode saw the Beales and knights come to blows following Cindy's return, and Lauren’s ultimatum to Peter was something which I don’t blame her for. And following the reveal of Kathy’s secret and then Cindy's involvement in the pub exploding, it’s still an all out war between the clan. But after Cindy comes to Lauren’s house, more drama occurred when she goes into labour. But elsewhere on the street, Jean is doing her best to support Nigel, and Jays return saw him in Gina's drama with the Mitchell’s. But Nicolas persuasion to get Harry to calm down may have worked after a heart to heart, which revealed a traumatic experience linking to her ex boyfriend. I don’t know if something will come about it, but it’s good to know that Harry has got someone who is experiencing a similar thing. And Ross is definitely in full on protective mode, and whilst Vicki tried to reassure him that it’s just him being a teenager, a flick through Joel’s phone just proves why Ross was feeling abit on edge. Wednesdays episode saw Lauren find herself in Cindy's palms as she goes into labour. Thankfully despite a journey to get there, Lauren has had a beautiful healthy baby boy. And despite Cindy's help, the family all want nothing to do with her, abit Cindy's threat may be more of a barrier to get through. But that wasn’t the only drama, during a drink at Harry’s barn, along with the stories of how each of the residents were delivered, Linda’s news on the Vic being open had a different effect on everyone given what’s happened. And Ross is furious at Joel for his discovery, and rightly so, as he told Vicky the truth about why they really left Australia. And it’s a good job she knew as well, as she managed to take the situation into her own hands. Finally, Thursdays episode saw the VE Day special, and I loved how it had sections of footage from the day itself on the square, and I thought that was very clever. And despite Nigel getting confused the year (which you can’t really get angry about it as I know it’s due to something behind his control), Jean had the idea to celebrate the day itself, and she and Phil decided to not tell him the truth on what year it is, just for this one day. Despite some reservations from Linda about the pub reopening, Mo managed to convince the other traders to come along to not only celebrate the day itself, but to also celebrate martins life, knowing that it’s something he would’ve wanted. And Kathy shared a precious story which is one of the many reasons why VE Day is important. Despite the celebrations, outside of it there was plenty of drama. Ross had to do some convincing to Vicki that Joel is learning his lesson, but that couldn’t be far enough from the truth. As after Tommy mocked Joel when Avani walked away, Joel’s idea of how to win a girl over is definitely different from flowers and chocolate, and more dangerous too. And Cindy is still not backing down from her threat unless she gets everything, and even Ian’s idea of meeting her grandson in secret didn’t work. And Kathy and Harvey’s plan to have a break backfired when Jean mistakenly thought it was for her.

XO Kitty:

This week I watched more of the show where the teenage matchmaker is discovering her roots in South Korea and also discovering her own journey. Episode 4 “TGIF” saw Kitty try to find a new roommate, but things seem to take a turn in some weird directions, leading Q to come up with a crazy idea. Speaking of Q, Kitty used her match making skills during a movie night in the hope of him getting to know Florian. But Min ho’s arrogance practically spoiled the movie, but another date may be on the cards for him. And we also got to see a possible reason why Min ho can have a defensive barrier. During Q’s hiking club, kitty’s attempts to get on good terms with Dae kept backfiring with Yuri’s interference, but a photo of Dae and Yuri lead to Kitty making another discovery about her mum, and despite being kicked out by security, Alex may be linked to her mother more than she realised. But Q was right to tell her to find more evidence before she can make the conclusion. Episode 5 “TBH” saw Kitty celebrate her first Chusoek, which is like thanksgiving but in Korea. I must say, min ho looked stunning in his cooking gear, and we actually got to see a vulnerable side to him and his family life. But the event itself didn’t go to plan when problems occur linking to the situation with her homemade mash potatoes. And the atmosphere only got worse when, after helping Min ho keeping K-Pop star lulu interested after his incident, a shock from Alex linking to Yuri’s mother and professor Lee even left me shocked. And speaking of Yuri, I can see why she decided to go to Dae’s for Chuseok, and is even good with his little sister. But after an awkward encounter with kitty from earlier, I wonder if Yuri made the mistake of not giving Dae his present from her. Episode 6 “BYOB”, saw Min-ho dreaming of kitty before realising it was all a dream. Meanwhile Alex convinces kitty to focus on her studies, and Q also had convinced her to become a new kitty whilst going to Min-ho’s party. I also love how she stood up for Yuri when a potential kiss goes awry, and it has proved that when kitty sees Yuri on the DJ set, wondering why she feels a buzz of electric, and Min ho, thinking that Kitty still has feelings for Dae, decides to go ahead with Madison even though he finds her abit too forward. We also saw professor Lee and Jina seeing their former feelings coming up during getting the students out of the club (as they didn’t know about the party itself).  Episode 7 “TIL”, saw the gang in Saturday detention following the events from the previous episode, which Min ho was not happy about. And min ho and Kitty were in the clear when Q was talking about sex dreams (but I’ll get onto it again later). During the detention, madisons use of a distraction amazes even min ho, and Kitty and Yuri set out to find some more clues after Jina mentioned the necklace Yuri was wearing. During the search, Yuri was shocked by her mothers betrayal that she did something drastic, which I’ll mention in a moment, but Q (who managed to fall in love with Florian following a distraction to principal Lee), finally realised who Kitty really had a sex dream about, but Kitty had two things on her mind. One being the fact that Alex may not be her half brother, but he may be linked to Jina more closely than he thought, and after a public “break up” following Yuri’s betrayal with her mum (which she took into her own hands), Dae and Kitty finally had their first kiss. But Kitty may be conflicted with other feelings on her mind.

Joan:

This week, the drama based on the true jewel thief got all hot and steamy with her romance, but also some obstacles to gain the life which her and her daughter dream about! Episode 4 saw Joan start her thriving journey by at first robbing a stolen painting from a lady’s house with the help of Boisie. But things did take a turn when he had a gun, and he then also questioned if everything she was doing was for herself or for Kelly. And after a brief trip to a hotel, she and Boisie got to know each other on a deeper level and their upbringing (and even got closer on the sexual side which I wasn’t ready for). And with some help from Albie, she managed to start a new heist with the help of bent jewel maker “King”. And whilst it was a happy moment when Boisie asked Joan to marry him, the news the social worker announced was one she didn’t want to hear. And I don’t know if she’s actually considering it. Hmmm…. Episode 4 saw the police knocking on the door after getting a tip off about the stolen painting. But Joan is adamant she wants to go straight for Kelly’s sake, and is also happy for her mum when she announces her engagement. And the wedding was full of drama, mainly between the sisters who first Nancy questions it, and then having a fight about the past. But whilst things may be looking on the up, with Joan doing a degree in being a jeweller, she was understandably shocked when Boisie revealed that he spoke with Albie about the painting, and from what I’ve heard, the IRA are the kind of people who once you make a deal with them, there’s no way of getting out of it unless you give them what they want. And Joan disguised as a lady called Jessica Cunningham didn’t realised she was getting double crossed, and ended up in the cell following it. It’s age to say that it doesn’t look good in getting Kelly back.

Amandaland:

This week saw Amanda actually find a job (or in her words, a "co-lab"), and saw her get back in the dating game. Episode 3 saw the dreaded parents evening take place. And let’s just say it’s gave Anne an ambition to do a math's camp, which even I would’ve been bored of. But just as though she was about to get somewhere, a meeting with the math's teacher may have exposed her secret. And Mal managed to open up to JJ about his thoughts on why he lied saying that he would teach math's, although when JJ offered to help in the end, even he was struggling. And Amanda managed to get a “co-lab”, but it looked like she was risking loosing her job following a sneak off to Della's opening of her new restaurant, and her plan to keep it and also help Fi with their wedding anniversary, it didn’t go to plan. But Della's sweet words made her day. And her reason for why she wants Georgie to do well in her exams have actually got her to study, and she also got to keep her “co-lab” in tact. Episode 4 “Boyfriends” saw Amanda go into the dating scene following a new like from her Instagram page. And he actually seems like a decent person, but let’s just say that a few things stood in her way. As let’s just say Anne interfering in Darius’ relationship with Georgie isn’t help in, where he ended up being dumped as a result. But Mal made her see that sometimes giving them space is all they need, but let’s just say that his new girlfriend didn’t mind, although it did left Georgie abit heartbroken. But Mal himself also got some action, and but a lovebite proved that maybe who he was seeing was abit too young for her. And now I also saw why felicity was being so secretive to her about her whereabouts, as after Fi (who had a great convo about the art of romance) said they missed their day out, she got suspicious. Now I don’t know if Johannesburg and Amanda will be officially a couple, but felicity’s words to her about romance definitely worked lol!

Personal:

Exercise:

This week I kept my regular exercise routine. As always my gym and yoga routine was in tact, and the timings for the exercise bike included 13mins 22secs, and 13mins 25secs, which are pretty decent times. And as seen below, on the Saturday I managed to extend my distance to 15k by extending my cooldown time to reach that further time. Maybe I should do the same going into next week.

Cooking:

I normally don't post anything about cooking as much as I should, but I should make an exception in this case. This is one of my favourite meals so far, and the taste itself was beautiful. And the mayo I made following the recipe was also a hit! I have a feeling that if my nan is not around to help me, this may be one of the meals I make myself!

ree

Survey:

My time of completing some surveys happened during Sunday, which I like to call Self-Care Sunday. And I'm glad I did it when I did, as I was out in the sunshine, breathing in the fresh air. If that's not self-care at its finest then I don't know what is.

Darts:

This week I managed to get 3 sessions of practices in. Whilst I haven't had the chance to do another match with myself, I at least managed t get a double and a treble in each practice. Which is enough for me.

Premier League:

This week the premier league came to Leeds. I won’t lie though, the last quarter final was abit slow, but I’m glad that Stephen bunting managed to win another match at least. But one thing I can say is that Luke Humphries has definitely secured his spot in play-offs week, and winning the night is a massive bonus. But I'm hoping Nathan Aspinal gets through to at least the top 4, as I don't know what his chances are, but I just want him to have that feeling of joy getting into the final 4.

This Piano:

This week the show came to Sheffield, where once again the talent kept on coming and coming. 13 year old Quinn started it off with a bang, and Paul’s original song combined with the trumpet was a brilliant combination. Primary school teacher Millie (who wanted to show how music can also help with learning and as a form of self care when things get too much) had a beautiful voice along with her piano playing skills, and Zak’s Chapeltown background is so different compared to the classical medley he showed (where it featured a piece from Chopin that was my favourite). Helen played a wonderful rendition of “Seasons of love” after explaining how her MS has affected her life, and Claudia not only fell in love with Harris’ version of “Just the two of us” dedicated to his grandad, but also his brothers in the process. Fellow autistic pianist Amelia did a beautiful song inspired by representing music as colours, and Charlie’s Atonal melody based on a fish (which the Goggleboxers reacted to) was weird but yet intriguing. And finally the beautiful pearl did a wonderful song that gave Spanish vibes, showing that age is specifically just a number. It was so difficult as everyone brought their A game, but I can see why they picked that person in the end, which I was happy about.

Britain's Got Talent:

This week we had more exceptional talent. The standard was really high, but it didn't come with me having to skip a few acts based on not being able to watch some, and also knowing it won't go down with the judges. But for the ones I did watch, I can see why Bruno pressed his golden buzzer, and why the act that got the most audience votes got through. And that performance by Sidney Christmas and Loren Allred had me in tears.

ree

Gogglebox:

This week there was plenty more stuff to watch whilst watching people watching telly. But there was also funny stuff in between, including David and Shirley’s holiday situation, Izzi mentioning her boyfriend saying how she’s lucky to Ellie, Teresa wanting to watch the football whilst shopping with Anita, and Lee doing a clever magic trick to Jenny which I might take with me lol. There was also Amira mocking Amani's gym workout but in a funny way, Pete wondering on what to get Paige for their anniversary, the Siddiqui's having interesting egg adventure and Izzi trying on her prom dress. Shows this week included “Silence is golden”, where one moment would’ve lost me, and Jacqui was the definition of a villain in “Married at first sight Australia”. There was also mixed views on Harry’s interview on “BBC news”, and “The Honesty Box” may be better than Love Island. There was a epic and emotional journey in "Pangolin: Kulu's Journey", and the voting elections on ITV News gave off alot of opinions on the Goggleboxers, with one comment from the event itself shocking them and me. There was also some interesting combos of wine and crips on "This Morning", and finally in "Good Luck To You, Leo Grande", Emma Thompson's character Nancy is literally me when being specific on what she wants. And you know what? I absolutely love it!

Hard times:

This weeks hard times included the possibility of not being able to attend a recall I got. This is mainly due to the financial situation of not being able to get a full refund on my train ticket. Yes I know I shouldn’t use money as an excuse for everything and I do need to invest in it in my career at some point, but the last thing people want is for me to go out of pocket. But hopefully after emailing them the situation but also mention other dates I’m free as a compromise, they’ll be able to understand my current situation. Another hard moment for me was having to miss an archery class due to reasons beyond my control. It's a shame yes, but thankfully I managed to write in my schedule the word “OR”, so that then if anything does change, I can manage it better. That’s my advice for anyone who is autistic and finds unexpected change from routine overwhelming. Add the word “OR”, after the thing you are scheduled to do, so that if anything does change, yes feel how you are feeling but also know that you can be more flexible for when it comes to being productive for the rest of the day.

What have I learnt this week?

What have I learnt this week? “Without difference you can’t make something new”, Charlie from The Piano. I guess this shows that being different does make it a superpower!

See you soon for another blog. Until next time…

This is The Autistic Actress signing off :)
