Hello world! Welcome back to another blog, and my first weekly highlights since the summer. This blog will saw me finishing reading a fantasy based on a fairytale, posting the second episode of Spooky Saturday and finally doing the performance of a story based on horrific true events in my hometown. So without brother ado, here is what I got up to during the week commencing 5th October 2026.

Professional:

Job Applying:

Despite having a busy week, I managed to get some applications filled in. There was one for a course in particular which I’m keen to apply for, but I need to fill it in by the Thursday of next week in order to take part in it. I’ll let you know if I managed to do that in my next weekly highlights, but man what a opportunity that would be if I got on, knowing it’s doable travel wise and it may open a lot of doors for me!

Content Posting:

This week I posted two more videos in order to keep me proactive. The first one is a mini vlog/youtube short of when I went to watch Mamma Mia in Nottingham with my Nan. The second one is episode 2 of “Spooky Saturday”, where Luna Moonshine gives you a glimpse of her hobbies when she’s not spell making. Click the links below to view them and don’t forget to leave a like and a comment!

41:

For this section of the blog, I’m going to split it into rehearsals and performance, and give my thoughts on how each of them went.

Rehearsals:

I had one more rehearsal this week for the rehearsed reading. It was a tense one to start with as one cast member was very late due to reasons beyond their control. But despite this, we managed to get through one run of the piece, and despite a few lucky bits, it went really well. For me I felt it went really well, but I need to take to take on board the ques to exit and how long to wait until I need to leave the stage.

Performance:

The performance of the piece was a real rollercoaster. I’ll do a full blog talking about my experience with the show, but the important part was we got the emotion of the piece to the audience, which I think is what made it the success that it was. I had such a brilliant time on it, and it’s moments like this where more acting opportunities for people in my hometown like myself should get.

Act On This Podcast:

This weeks Act On This podcast was with casting director Sonia Allam and her associate Leila Ali. It was great once again to get some tips and tricks from them, and after hearing them talk about how they cast The Blame and The Split Up, it made me more excited to watch those shows (with The Blame being one of the next things on my watchlist). But overall it was a brilliant session indeed!

TV Shows:

This week I watched more of the serial drama, and knowing I would be busy, instead of high end drama, I decided to watch one off comedy shows featuring 3 people from Saturday Night Live UK (who were comedians in their own right). For the serial dramas, Coronation Street saw Summer facing criticism from everyone with regards to her relationship with newcomer Marco after Officer Jess Heywood revealed a secret of his, and Christina was still grieving Rachel to the point where she took her ashes, but had a kind gesture from George for me emotional. But the main topic was Jodie’s plot being exposed, which then ended up in a shooting after David and Shona set her up. Hollyoaks saw the search for Ste still continuing (and a clue pointed out that he’s still alive) with Lucas getting himself into alot of trouble. We also saw Gemma being exposed for her involvement with the crypto wallets, but revealing Lucas’ link to potentially kidnapping Ste. We also saw a glimpse of Jenson and Sienna secretly working to destroy Warren, and Leela confessing her feelings for Tony didn’t go to plan when he finds out about his new mystery woman. And Eastenders saw Linda’s shock when Lee and Nancy returned and revealed their surrogacy plan, with Linda wanting to confront Jess herself despite Lee’s reservations. We also saw Nicola bonding with Ryder, which led to him opening up about his sexuality, but may be under pressure when Ned spots him unexpectedly, and Ian was coming back from prison, which was harder than he thought. I also watched three specials of comedy shows starring three cast members of Saturday Night Live UK, who were comedians in their own right. These were Paddy Young, Ania Magliano and Larry Dean. I enjoyed them for different reasons, and whilst there were some bits I didn’t find funny, there were some moments that had me crying with laughter. And the thing with comedy for me is not necessarily the person, but the jokes that tell and if they’re relatable to me. But it was great to see them do their own thing outside of the iconic show.

Saturday Night Live UK:

This week I watched the fourth episode of the show inspired by the iconic American sketch show by Lorne Michaels. This has Danny Dyer as the host and Sasha Keables for music. From an Oliver Twist parody, to a sergeant asking strange questions on what to bring for the moon, it was brilliant. I also liked a joke Ania and Paddy made about a “Talk Tory” during the Weekend Update, and whilst politics is not my favourite, I definitely found the tall joke somewhat relatable and entertaining! It would've been great if George Fouracres had his segment "45 Seconds With Fouracres" on his birthday would've been great it, and other than the Cold Open, maybe him being in more sketches but equally maybe he needed a week to celebrate his birthday. But I liked how he made a joke about it in the Weekend Update! I can’t wait for James Norton next week!

Personal:

Exercise:

This week’s exercise I decided to tone down abit. These included two session at the gym and instead of going on the bike I decided to do a brisk walk whilst we had some nice weather. Plus with my nerves for the performance being that week, I thought this was a better one to do when it came to mindfulness. But hay, at least I wasn’t being lazy and no do any at all, so anything is better than nothing!

Cooking:

For cooking this week. I went back to basics with a scrumptious meal of Pork Loin Medallions. Because I knew I would have a busy weekend, not only was it something easy, but with my nerves for the performance coming, it was actually a therapeutic thing to do. So it was good I cooked this week as it gave me a good distraction (and also have one as my lunch before the first show).

Reading:

This week I finished a book I got for my birthday. This one wasn’t one I was expecting (as there was another version of a book with the same title which I wanted more), but this was an example of a happy accident. As the more I dug into it, the more invested I was, and now I immediately want to get the second book to this series. So if you like fantasy and a spin on unique fairytales, then this is the book for you!

Surveys:

This week I managed to get at least a few surveys done amongst the busy week I had. But the most recent one at the end of the week did take a while, and I’ve learnt that maybe smaller surveys are doable for me, as the longer one did give me a headache. But nevertheless, this hobby was a good way to help me destress for the performance and also was enjoyable to do!

Darts:

I only really had one proper darts practice this week, where I finished on double 3 after 3 bust scores and 6 missed match darts (even though I thought I’d finished on double 18 after a 101 checkout but sadly didn’t). As the second game I had to stop due to a broken dart, but still I managed to get my first 100 in a while, and that was a huge win for me!

The Celebrity Traitor’s:

This week I caught up on series 2 of the celebrity version of the show based on a game of deception and trust. I know I’m way behind and late to the party, but after watching clips of the original series and seeing clips of series 1 of the celebrity version on Gogglebox, I had to get on the bandwagon. I won’t say anything, but let’s just say I’m gutted I had to miss on 4 series of the original and the first series of the celebrity one. But I’m willing to stick with it!

Strictly Come Dancing:

This week I watched more of the iconic ballroom and Latin dance competition. From the first Rumba and Argentine Tango to a disco themed Salsa and an emotional Couple’s Choice, it definitely had it all. I think the right couple left this week, not to say they weren't good, but there was such a strong presence this week. But all I can say is I can't wait for Icons Week.

Gogglebox:

This week I watched more of the show where I watch people watch TV. From a high stakes drama starring Dominic West, to a wildlife programme seeing a rare breed of frog, there was definitely a lot of highlights this week. And the Goggleboxers themselves got up to a lot of things as well, which was always great to see!

Challenges I Faced & How I Overcame Them:

This week I think one of the challenges I had was my telephone appointment with my local doctors. At the time of posting this, they’ve booked me an appointment to get some bloods done and an ECG just to make sure everything is fine (but for obvious reasons if it happens again go to A&E), but having that piece of mind and knowing it’s going to get sorted was enough for me, and also how it was one less thing to worry about during the show. Speaking of the show, it was also tough during it. I’ll mention it in full detail in the blog of the overall thing, but let’s just say me and the cast had challenges both on and off the stage. But somehow we managed to pull together and put on a brilliant display of theatre for all to see. And I guess the final part was once again not going to my acting class. But I knew it would be easier in the long run knowing I needed to preserve some energy. I just can’t wait to get back to it (providing I’m healthy and there’s no train cancellations) and continue to work on my acting muscles (whether I take part in the Christmas showcase or not).

What have I learnt this week? Two things. The first one was to Keep Calm An Carry On. Not only was it something to remember for those who fought for our country, but it was definitely needed during the performance itself. The second one is to know that I can do it, which was what I did and I'm proud of myself for it!

See you soon for another blog. Until next time…

This is The Autistic Actress signing off :)
